Philippians – Closing Thoughts

Philippians – Closing Thoughts

In conclusion of this study, I pulled out what I felt were the most powerful verses pertaining to our life in Christ and put it all together in one prayer.  I have come to really believe in and value the power of praying in agreement with the Word of God, so I encourage you to read this prayer aloud as a personal pledge to God, our Father.  Don’t worry if you don’t quite have all of this worked out yet, I sure don’t.  But if we will begin to confess what His Word says, we will empower it to work in us.  Transformation comes as we set our minds, and hearts affectionately on Him.

Father, I pray with great faith, fully convinced that You who began this gracious work in me will faithfully continue the process of maturing me until the unveiling of my Lord Jesus Christ.  I pray that as my love increases beyond measure, You will bring me into the rich revelation of spiritual insight in all things, that I may be able to choose the most excellent way – becoming pure and without offense and filled completely with the fruits of righteousness found in Jesus, bringing great praise and glory to You, my God.  I have found much encouragement in my relationship with Jesus.  I am filled to overflowing with his comforting love.  I have experienced a deepening friendship with the Holy Spirit and have felt his tender affection and mercy.  I will choose to live my life free of pride-filled opinions as they will harm the cherished unity of the body of Christ.  I will not allow self-promotion to hide in my heart, but in authentic humility I will put others first and view others as more important than myself.  I will possess a greater concern for what matters to others instead of my own interests.  I will consider the example that Jesus has set before me and let his mindset be my motivation.  For he was a perfect example and because of his obedience You exalted him and multiplied his greatness, giving him the greatest name.  The authority of the name of Jesus causes every knee to bow in reverence.  One day all will submit to his name in every realm, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, bringing glory and honor to You, his Father.  I will continue to make this new life fully manifested as I live in holy awe of You; as You continually revitalize me, implanting within me the passion to do what pleases You.  I will live a cheerful life, without complaining or division so that I may be seen as an innocent, faultless, and pure child of God even though I live in a brutal and perverse culture.  I will appear among them as a shining light in the universe, holding out the words of eternal life.  My passion is to be consumed with Jesus; to know his wonder and experience the overflowing power of his resurrection working in me.  I run with passion into his abundance so that I may reach the purpose for which Christ Jesus laid hold of me to make me his own.  I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this, but I will forget the past and fasten my heart to the future.  I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus.  I am a citizen of heaven on earth clinging tightly to my life-giver, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will one day transform my humble body and transfigure me into the identical likeness of his glorified body.  I will be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life.  May my joy overflow, and gentleness be seen in every relationship for my Lord is ever near.  I refuse to be pulled in different directions or worried about anything.  I will saturate myself in prayer throughout each day, offering my faith-filled requests before You with overflowing gratitude.  I will tell you every detail of my life as your wonderful peace that transcends human understanding guards my heart and mind through Jesus Christ.  I will keep my thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind.  I will fasten my thoughts on every glorious work of Your hand, praising You always; Your peace will be with me in all things.  I am convinced that You will satisfy my every need according to your abundant riches in glory.  And You, God my Father, will receive all the glory and the honor throughout the eternity of eternities!  Amen!

“May the grace and favor of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit!” (Phil. 4:23 TPT)
